Featured from the Bridge Audio Archives: A Flash Interview with Andrei Codrescu, by Jake Juros

ANDREI CODRESCU was born in Sibiu, Transylvania, Romania, and emigrated to the United States in 1966. He is the author of numerous books: poems, novels, and essays. He founded Exquisite Corpse: a Journal of Books and Ideas. He was a regular commentator on NPR’s All Things Considered. He taught literature and poetry at Johns Hopkins University, the University of Baltimore, and Louisiana State University.

This interview originally appeared as a track on the Bridge Audio CD, a special project distributed in a plastic sleeve in the Bridge Journal, Volume 1, Number 3 in 2001.

The Private Reading Series

This is the archive section for the Private Reading Series, a poetry and experimental reading series hosted first at Chicago South Loop event space The Handsome Squid Cafe, then at BING, the art book space owned and operated by artist Theaster Gates.

The Private Reading Series Facebook group contains additional materials, including photographs from the readings.

Please note that each schedule shifted as readers were rescheduled for personal reasons, or as venue changes were enacted. Not all recordings survived, with some being lost to failed hard drives or digital decay.

In fact, this schedule ended after the first two readings, when the art book archive that was housed in BING was moved to the Stoney Island Arts Bank, and the reading series was abruptly canceled, with June 18 2016 marking the last reading. Following from the first schedule, posted below, please note that any scheduled readings subsequent to that date were not rescheduled due to lack of venue.
